Police
1 killed, 1 hurt in crash
One person was killed and another one was injured Sunday in a two-vehicle collision just west of Dinuba, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The vehicles collided at 3:54 p.m. at Road 74 and Kamm Avenue, according to the CHP. One person was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, said CHP officer Jason Bettini.
Man dies after assault
A man died of injuries he received in an assault early Sunday in Visalia, police reported.
The victim, identified only as a Visalia man in his 50s, arrived at Kaweah Delta Hospital with a head injury, police said. Investigators learned the assault occurred at 2:27 a.m. on the 1500 block of South Garden Street.
The victim was later transferred to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, where he died, police reported.

Couple arrested in kidnap
A couple wanted in connection with a missing 2-year-old girl have been arrested and the girl has been returned unharmed to her parents, Fresno police reported Sunday.
The toddler was last seen about 12:30 a.m. Saturday, and so was a 22-year-old woman who stayed for about a week at the home near Lane and Chestnut avenues, police said. Police were called to the house at 2:49 a.m. Saturday.
Police later found the woman, Yazmin Valencia-Tapia, and her boyfriend, Ricardo Hernandez, 21, of Fresno, at a home near Shields and massage therapy degree Fowler avenues, where they also discovered the girl unharmed. Officers arrested the pair on suspicion of kidnapping and conspiracy to commit kidnapping.
Boy shot in confrontation
A 16-year-old boy was shot once in the right buttock after he and flavored massage oils at least two others were confronted by three men at an apartment complex Sunday night in west-central Fresno.
The victim, who was taken to Community Regional Medical Center with a wound that was not considered life-threatening, told Fresno police that hetwo other teens were near the laundry room at the Park West Apartments at 2655 W. Alamos Ave. when three men wearing hooded sweat shirts approached them shortly before 7:30 p.m.
Fresno police Lt. Mike Doyle said the victim did not know what prompted the shooting, but at least six shots were fired.
