Microsoft CEO Ballmer: Yahoo Talks Are Finished
SAN FRANCISCO -(Dow Jones)- Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) Chief Executive
Steve Ballmer said Wednesday that all acquisition discussions with Yahoo Inc. (YHOO) were 'finished,' and that Microsoft had 'moved on.'
Microsoft, however, remains 'very open' to a potential search deal with Yahoo, Ballmer said at the company's annual stockholder meeting.
Earlier this week, Yahoo said it was searching for a new CEO after
Jerry Yang announced that he would stand down. Yang earlier this year rejected a $47.5 billion takeover approach by Microsoft.
Speculation was re-ignited earlier this week by Yang's departure that Microsoft could reopen talks.
Yahoo shares were trading recently down 12.5% at $10.10. Shares in Microsoft were trading down 3.8% at $18.88.
